LinkedtoAsia: Should I travel now or later?

What should I do after college? Read below for suggestions!

One of the most daunting challenges that soon to be graduates face is what to do next. It is so daunting that universities have been forced to put in place career development personnel. Did you know they exists? If not, then you should know that it is their whole job to be available to you so that you can weigh through huge life options. Some of you may desire to get to work right away so that you can make money for your family. Some may desire to continue education via graduate school in law, medicine, or other doctoral pursuits.

But what happens if…

That job doesn’t come. Maybe your major or your resume has not been tagged by the artificial intelligence software that is used by most major corporations. You perhaps have been wondering why all of your friends also have not received calls or emails back yet. There are a few reasons that this may happen. One reason is that jobs are more focused than ever on skills, both technical and soft, that cannot always be acquired through formal education. What most employers miss by catering to this trend of data collection is a real appreciation of the resiliency that is needed to be the best employee possible.

One way for you to show resiliency to your future employers is to do something amazing, that few others accomplish. Lets say you go teach abroad in a country that you have never lived in before…. This catapults you to a whole new level of courage, but then you add the fact that you don’t know the language or culture and then you demonstrate that you carry the trait of adaptability. In this economy, resilience + adaptability will equal a conversation starter and ping that few other job seekers will be able to boast. In addition, tie in, that you took advantage of language learning resources while traveling, and you could find yourself in rare company.

You do get the job! You made it to what everyone has told you for years is the way to be adulting. You will now be able to afford a house, a car, maybe even start a family. If you work hard enough as you have been told, you will receive all the riches of the world. There is one downside to this narrative, reality. Many students that graduate with a bachelors degree are no where near at a point where it makes financial sense to spend on these major expenses, even though, in Western society, these purchases have been associated with being an adult.

Being an adult is also about having wisdom and that can be gained through not only knowledge that you obtained from college, but also from the experience that you can gain from teaching abroad. In addition to this, you can save some real money by working with LinkedtoAsia as most of your earnings will be able to saved and tax-free as your benefits include, flight re-imbursement, paid apartment, food stipend (in most cases), and low to no cost transportation to and from work. In addition, your work week will not exceed 20 hours per week if you are a recent graduate with no teaching experience.

You don’t get accepted to graduate school. The idea of being going on to a terminal professional degree is what drives a great many students through completion of their undergraduate degree. Maybe your senior year was hectic and you didn’t get a chance to study as much as you wanted to for those tedious tests that further act to help those elite graduate programs discriminate amongst too many applicants for a ridiculously low number of available spots. Perhaps you simply didn’t apply to the right schools or the right programs that fit your prior experience or course of study. You might even find that you went on autopilot and just applied because you thought it was what you were supposed to do. Either way you have no school plans now and also no work plans.

Don’t lose hope. We offer a perfect solution for those of you that find yourselves in this position. Not only do we have more positions than we have applicants, but you can get an offer letter as soon as two weeks from the time that you contact us. In addition you will be able to have money to apply to even more schools on the second round.
